Life... Is A Beach...

My Mom loves two things above all others (besides me and my sister of course)...

The Beach.... And Ginger....(yes... ginger candy yuck!)

So, for her Birthday party I decided I would surprise her with a new creation... So I ran to the store and bought two bags of candied ginger... ginger cookies... and powdered ginger....
And decided to get started with her Beach cake :)

Let me start explaining each aspect of this cake :)

Classic chair... Mom just loves to sit and watch the waves. When we were little we would take our chairs to the water and just watch the waves for the day...
Chair is gumpaste....

After much trial and error, Iwas able to make ginger sand... Yes... lol
The sand is made of an old fashioned ginger snap crushed, and mixed with sugars and ginger...

There is no beach for Mom without a Volly ball. Mom and I both share in the love for Volley!

Each of the small shells and starfish were hand moulded as well

And I also (Because I would never use ginger) made some ginger cookies which, I tasted and tasted rather awesome!

Happy Birthday Mommy Cupcake!

Michelle contacted us about Number 2 cookies for Nico.

And I have to say, I love the idea of personalising edible cookies for kids!

These were our vanilla sugar cookies, topped with Marshmallow fondant, and royal icing hand written letters.

Amanda Picone... Takes cake smashing to a whole new level...

Besides besing the most genuine person I've ever met... Amanda is also amazing....with kids! (Hey, Dean calls her "preddy")

So, for my son's first birthday, his future mother in law (Yes, I am already setting my son up to be wed lol) purchased Dean a first birthday smash cake shoot. That had to be the most amazing gift in the world.

So, I had already spoken with Amanda prior because I had wanted to do one....And had all these crazy idea's to do with the smash cake...

And , well... Amanda took my vision.... and multiplied it by a MILLION.

Plus, Dean LOVED Brodie, Amanda's doggie and so we invited her out for a few shots!

So, Without further wait.....

Nonno turns 60!

One of our favorite repeat customers contacted us about a cake for her father, who would be turning 60.
So, with a little discussion, we figured out that since he loves cards, we would do something card themed!
So, a card table it was...

"Nonno" is painted with silver luster...

And the cards, sugarpaste!

I made the poker chips actual size and added  a personalized "S" for Salvatore (Nonno's name!)
I made a edible deck of cards as well with a 60 on it...

The cake was a chocolate cake, filled and coated with chocolate buttercream mouse.

Happy Birthday Nonno! God Bless!!

We're CooCoo for Koko!

My "Secret" client told me about four months ago that for his birthday, the only thing he wanted was a Chuggington cake...but more specifically Koko.
Koko was made using full marshmellow fondant. The head is sculpted and covered as well. The base is made entirely of rice crispy treats.
This is the car that he gave me to base his KOKO cake on. His favorite episode is when KOKO works too hard and falls asleep so, KOKO is looking tired for him lol.

The cake was a yellow cake with chocolate brownie baked into it.
To pair with the vanilla and brwnie, I made a cinnamon honey buttercream.
 Rice crispy treat bottom.
 And another of Koko.

Chuggington!

Birthday Boy Loves His Dinosaurs!

Jeremy's mom contacted us about his birthday a while back...And we knew what the order would consist of...
Jeremy is one of my favorite little boys. If you ever have a project on Dino's and need some info, give this little man a call!!
His mom ordered Red Velvet cupcakes and Dino cupcake toppers(All Edible)
The cupcakes had cream cheese frostng.

Mrs. Cupcake saw it fit to add some red to the Dinosaurs to match the red velvet and I LOVE it!!

How Sweet It Is... To be 16!

Donna had contacted me a few weeks ago about a Sweet 16 Cake for her daughter. I wasn't able to picture the theme of the cake until I received this awesome copy of her invitation!  I knew exactly what to do and got right to preparing the fondant and coloring!
The cake was my moms amazing vanilla cake, with raspberry jelly compote(Leftovers are sitting in my fridge and being used on toast!)
There isn't an easy way to do the cheetah other than by hand...which took forever but I decided to copy the EXACT invitation cheetah! I know, a little OCD but so worth it!

I decided to put Victoria's name inside of the exact shape on the invitation to make the invite incorporated into the cake.

And, anyone who thinks zebra stripes are easy... Try again! This took the longestbecause I wanted to stay true to the invitiation with smaller thinner stripes.

Happy Sweet 16 Victoria!
