Let's Save Our Fire House!

It's something no one wants to hear. Espesially coming from a small community like mine, I find it hard to understand how or why they would consider closing down local engine 284. (Read the story here)

Espesially with the amount of people moving into the area, and how busy 13th avenue has become, I just can not understand closing them down.

So, lets spread some Cupcake love, and rally on Friday, June 3rd at 330, and show just how much we need this firehouse to stay open!

I know... I've been a poor Blogger!!

Hi Everyone!
I know it's been a while, and those of you who have placed orders and have not seen your order on the blog, I promise it will be updated soon!

We are in the process of starting up our website, and orders have been overwhelming!

As of right now we are completely booked with cakes until August so I apoligise for anyone who wanted one of our cakes!

I wanted to share this review from one of our repeat customers.... because it truely made my day!

"Jenny, I hope this e-mail makes you smile! I just wanted to share with you my obsession with your cakes. I have ordered gourmet cakes before, and there are plenty of amazing shops on Long Island that I will continue to visit. However, I think traveling to brooklyn for your cakes, is worth every gas increase in the world.
It is clear that your cakes are not the cheap product of a store bought box mix. I've had your red velvet, and your vanilla bean, and , they were fantastic, delicious, and pleasing.
As a wedding planner, Gourmet cake prices can be outrageous. I always try to explain to my clients that "You get what you pay for". However, I find, with you, your prices of gourmet are more than reasonable. They are exceptional.
Very rarely can I find a pure, organic cake, that tastes like heaven.
The amount of detail you put into your cakes, is outrageous. From the tinest little zipper to the buttons on a teddy bear, I can not imagine more perfection. You are truely an artist and I see only good things for you in the future.  Sincerely, C.A"

It's things like that that make me know I am doing the right thing.

I also wanted to add that we will only be using The Peanut Butter Company's peanut butter. (Those of you who have not tried their Elvis, you don't know what you are missing!) We have a friend who works over there, and after being introduced to their peanut butter, we've been taking trips to purchase their AMAZING and ORGANIC peanutbutter!!

What more can you ask for?

So, we are finally....

Yes!!!! What do we think of the official new logo? I had asked a while ago if we thought that Love and Sprinkles was a awesome name to stick with... And, well.... Everyone loved it.

I've always signed my letters to everyone with love and sprinkles. To me, sprinkles are awesome. I grew up calling them Jimmies. My family calls all sprinkles jimmies, and so does mostly everyone else in alot of areas. Some, call Jimmies the rainbow ones, some the chocolate. To us, Sprinkles were just another name for them lol.

And who else LOVES sprinkles? I sure do! lol

So, look forward to some awesome new logo promos... and giveaways....to celebrate the new logo...

Love is in full bloom....

Amanda and Christopher contacted us three months ago about their wedding. They started by explaining that they had been engaged in the Botanic garden during Cherry Blossom season, and would be getting married at the same time.
Attached, was their wedding invitation:
Amanda made it very clear that she wanted cupcakes, not a cake for her wedding.
She purchased many different tiers of cake plates to place them on so make it look like cascading Cherry Blossoms.
So, MRs. Cupcake said ABSOLUTELY. She sent over some samples to make sure it was okay, and the final choice...was our favorite too!!
The cupcakes were red velvet cupcakes with strawberry buttercream filling:

Christopher had then contacted us to let us know that their favors had come, and they hated them! lol He asked if possible, we could create cookies to match the cupcakes...and Mrs.Cupcake worked her magic and....

A picture of them all together:

Congratulations Amanda and Christopher on your Beautiful wedding!!! We can't wait to see pictures!

Love and Sprinkles... It is!

So, we have decided to officially name our company... Love and Sprinkles.

We all know I sign mostly everything with Love and Sprinkles, Little MRs Cupcake... But since I am not in charge of the cupcakes... I feel as though its only fair to leave Mama Cupcake as Mrs. Cupcake.

I was a little nervous, because I wasnt sure if the name would stick... but I think that it's more what we do. We put love into everything we make... and, well... we know I love Sprinkles (or as we call them Jimmies) lol

What do we think? I am currently working on a new logo, and will hopefully be able to get a real branding by September (From a real professional lol)

I'll share the logo with you in a few...

Nonno turns 60!

One of our favorite repeat customers contacted us about a cake for her father, who would be turning 60.
So, with a little discussion, we figured out that since he loves cards, we would do something card themed!
So, a card table it was...

"Nonno" is painted with silver luster...

And the cards, sugarpaste!

I made the poker chips actual size and added  a personalized "S" for Salvatore (Nonno's name!)
I made a edible deck of cards as well with a 60 on it...

The cake was a chocolate cake, filled and coated with chocolate buttercream mouse.

Happy Birthday Nonno! God Bless!!

We're CooCoo for Koko!

My "Secret" client told me about four months ago that for his birthday, the only thing he wanted was a Chuggington cake...but more specifically Koko.
Koko was made using full marshmellow fondant. The head is sculpted and covered as well. The base is made entirely of rice crispy treats.
This is the car that he gave me to base his KOKO cake on. His favorite episode is when KOKO works too hard and falls asleep so, KOKO is looking tired for him lol.

The cake was a yellow cake with chocolate brownie baked into it.
To pair with the vanilla and brwnie, I made a cinnamon honey buttercream.
 Rice crispy treat bottom.
 And another of Koko.

Chuggington!

Birthday Boy Loves His Dinosaurs!

Jeremy's mom contacted us about his birthday a while back...And we knew what the order would consist of...
Jeremy is one of my favorite little boys. If you ever have a project on Dino's and need some info, give this little man a call!!
His mom ordered Red Velvet cupcakes and Dino cupcake toppers(All Edible)
The cupcakes had cream cheese frostng.

Mrs. Cupcake saw it fit to add some red to the Dinosaurs to match the red velvet and I LOVE it!!

Happy Birthday Jeremy!!!!
