Surprise! First Her Daughter's Baby Shower...

And Now Her SURPRISE Birthday!

Beth had no idea that her daughter, Lauren, decided to surprise her mom with this Maxine cake the same weekend as her sister's baby shower!
Lauren had asked me if I would be able to do a Maxine figure, and I have to admit, at first I was nervous! I told her to let me see if I could before I said yes...
And before I knew it the figure started to come together!
I based it on a Hallmark card that said "Once you're over the hill, everything starts melting" and based everything on the cake melting, and stuck with some happy colors.
Beth was estatic, and such a wonderful woman. Mommy cupcake and I are lucky to have met them!

Baby Showers... Take on a whole new meaning!

When Krystal contacted us, she told us that she wanted a cake for her sister's baby shower. She gave us the following themes "Forest, Baby Bubble bath and forest animals"...

Easy huh? lol
So, we placed baby boy in a bath outside with some leaky water for the frogs and birds to play with!
Love and Sprinkles!

Millies 60!

So, let's talk a little about my Mother In Law. It's not what you think! I promise. I LOVE HER.

You know those people who give and give and give and genuinely want NOTHING in return?

Thats her.

So... I decided that my first major two layer cake- although playing it safe- would be for her.

The top layer is carrot cake, and the bottom layer is lemon drop cake.

I made this awesome fondant that I got off of a website (That I can't find now!!) but its marshmellows! It is so amazing and delicious and soft and easy to work with!

She has a dog, names scrappy that she loves, she loves to garden... and she is the ultimate grandma! So0.. I added all those into her cake!
Okay, maybe I over accentuated her..um... top... but I didn't know how else to do it just yet!!

I also decided that I would try my hand at some fondant cookies! Hey, she's 60 why not?!
